DEFINITIONS

Original Resource Documents are those records that have are generally accepted by government agencies as officially authenticated evidence of birth, death, marriage, or similar events.  Frequently, documents such as a family Bible may also be acceptable by genealogists as an original document, with certain caveats.  Books, Internet genealogies, or hearsay genealogies, while perhaps correct, are not "Original Resource Documents" and should never be relied upon or presented as "gospel" documentation.
